Exchange! How does it work?
There are two ways.
1. You can take off your doors, completely strip them (glass, window winder,
hinges and locks) then send them by carrier.(We mainly use Parcelforce)
or bring them to our workshop.
You can then take away repaired doors or we will send them to you.
2. If your car is in daily use and you cannot afford to be without your
doors, don't worry - we will send you a door or doors straight away. (There
is a refundable £30 surcharge per door). You can then fit the door/s
at your leisure.
Once the new doors are fitted, simply send us the old doors and we will
return your £30 per door surcharge.
To return your old doors simply place in the original packaging and take
them to your local postoffice or Parcelforce depot (see Yellow pages). The
return postage is the same for one or two doors and just over £10.
There is no time limit for this service.
Are my old doors fit to be Repaired or Exchanged?
Obviously
when we take a door in exchange, we expect to be able to repair it and then
sell it.
MkI and MkII doors (external hinges)
There is no problem, we can repair them no matter what state they are in. Please note there is no exchange on MkI and II doors.
MkIII and MkIV doors
Generally speaking we can repair most doors, age is not a factor, there
were good years and bad years and some of the worst doors are the latest
type with side impact protection. The state of the outer skin is not important
as this will be replaced, nor are cracks in the upper window frame, these
can be rewelded..
The main thing to look for is the inside edge of the bottom of the door
where it touches the rubber seal on the door frame, this should be sound
with no rust or holes. (See diagram)
